Jan. 18 — The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has begun posting updates to the 2014 Edition Test Method (test procedures, test data, and test tools) on the ONC website. Testing laboratories and certification bodies will use the test method to evaluate conformance and functionality of electronic health records (EHRs) and EHR modules against the standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria adopted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support meaningful use attestation, beginning with EHR reporting periods in FY14 and CY14.
The 2014 Edition Test Method was formally approved on Dec. 14, 2012, by the ONC following public review of the draft version published online in waves in September 2012. It is now effective for use in the ONC HIT Certification Program (formerly known as the Permanent Certification Program).
An overview of the 2014 test method and its development can also be found on the ONC website.
