Healthcare Employment Sees Slow, Steady Rise
March 11—The healthcare industry continued to add jobs in February (32,000), with 9,000 of those jobs reflecting an increase in hospital employment, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment data. From February 2012 to February 2013, the hospital employment market has seen a slow-but-steady yearly total increase, seasonally adjusted, of 58,000 jobs.
The other portion of the 32,000 gain in healthcare jobs from January to February 2013 came from a 14,000-job gain in ambulatory healthcare services, which includes physician offices and outpatient care centers, and a 9,000-job increase in nursing and residential care facilities.
