BLS: Hospital Employment Rises Again in March
April 8—U.S. hospital employment increased by 7,900 jobs in March 2013 from February, a change of 0.16 percent, according to the monthly employment rate data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The increase follows a 0.22 percent change from January to February 2013.
The seasonally adjusted hospital employment total in March was 4,837,600, compared to the March 2012 total of 4,773,000, an increase of almost 2.2 percent.
Job growth in health care in general continued in March, with a gain of 23,400, similar to the prior 12-month average, according to the BLS. The remaining portion of the March job increase was in ambulatory healthcare services, such as home health care.
