LTC was a great success. Thank you to everyone who made it a magical experience especially to the chapter leaders who shared their good practices, the members of the Chapter Advancement Team who helped teach the classes, our incoming Regional Executives who served as course coordinators and who helped capture some of the great ideas during session discussions, and all the attendees who generously gave their time away from work and family to learn how to enhance our service to members.

Words of Wisdom from Robyn Benincasa

We’ve had a lot of positive feedback on this year’s speaker Robyn Benincasa. She certainly took Steve Rose’s theme “ Whatever It Takes” to a new level with her stories of how teams overcome challenges using human synergy to allow ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things together.

Benincasa pulled the group in right away when she spoke about the challenges in the financial world and the challenges in healthcare. “You guys are healthcare and finance,” said Benincasa. “This is what an adventure racer would do to take it to the next level!”

She urged listeners to engage in “we” thinking by playing less as an individual and more as a team.

Some of Robyn’s other words of wisdom included:

  • Let people walk beside you
  • Commitment starts when the fun stops
  • Sometimes a setback can be the best thing that happens to you
  • Pain is mandatory, suffering is optional
  • See a world full of collaborators rather than competitors
  • Motivation is for now, inspiration is forever
  • Jump off the cliff and grow your wings on the way down

In the end, maybe the most interesting lesson in her presentation was not what she said, but what she didn’t say. She never attributed her team’s success to anything that she did, but rather to the leadership that various individual members contributed during crucial points in the team’s quest.

Many chapter leaders have asked how to invite Robyn Benincasa to speak at a chapter/regional meeting. Click to learn more. You can also talk with Don Jenkins at the National Speakers Bureau at 847) 295-1122.
