June 12—Partners Healthcare of Boston will make a $1 million investment in data warehousing and analytics firm Health Catalyst, working with the company to co-create clinical applications while implementing a healthcare-specific data warehouse platform across Partners’ two academic medical centers and its community and specialty hospitals.

The data warehousing platform, created by Health Catalyst, will facilitate data access, analysis, and reporting with the goal of improving care while reducing costs. The platform will be capable of storing large amounts of clinical data and speeding analysis of clinical and financial information. According to the announcement, Partners expects the platform to facilitate access to actionable information stored inside multiple applications.

As part of the agreement between Partners HealthCare and Health Catalyst, Partners will become a co-developer of clinical applications for the data warehouse platform. For example, a possible application might be used to identify patients with congestive heart failure and implement a series of interventions designed to keep them healthy and out of the hospital after discharge.
