Best part of my job: My team. Spending the time as a operating unit working thru issues, problem solving, breaking thru historical cultural barriers and achieving high performing results.
I joined HFMA because: of the educational and career/professional opportunities a membership provides.
First volunteer involvement with HFMA: Moved back to the NW, the Oregon Chapter. At that point I knew that in order to meet other healthcare professionals, I needed to get involved in the chapter. After my first inquiry, it was suggested to be the incoming Finance Programs Co-Chair and what a great role to kick off my involvement.
Favorite HFMA memory: A highly successful educational event held at OHSU, not only did the OHSU HFMA members helped to make it a successful event, but the various OHSU departments. For example, the catering department that provided amazing meals for the event to marketing providing the signage.
Benefits of HFMA involvement: Not only has it provided a broad band of professional contacts but also personal long-term friendships.
First job: Counter girl at Burgerville, and my cash register was always 100% in balance at the end of a shift.
My family: Wonderful husband who has been supportive of my very active career as well as involvement in HFMA. Oldest son Troy, is attending University of Oregon studying Human Physiology, despite being raised an OSU Beaver. Youngest son Austin, who will be a junior at Central Catholic High School, is leaning towards a career in Engineering, so a natural fit for OSU.
Favorite sports team: Avid Oregon State Beaver fan, any sport, anytime.
