These Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards show examples of data mining analytics on a hospital's readmission rates. Executives can use this analysis to understand the implications of readmissions on clinical and financial operations, and make improvements to the discharge procedures that yield greater value of care.

Exhibit 1: Fifty percent of patients are readmitted within 24 hours after discharge, while remaining half of patients are readmitted within nine days of discharge.

Exhibit 2: A majority of patients who are readmitted stay in the hospital for less than two days. With this information, healthcare executives can implement a more rigorous set of discharge criteria for these patients in efforts to prevent readmissions.
