In this webinar, membership chairs, Carla D'Angelo, MPH, from the Rochester Regional Chapter; Ana Gonzalez, from the Northern California Chapter, and W. Guice Smith, III, from the Tennessee Chapter shared some of the membership recruitment and retention practices that have been successful for their chapters. Take advantage of their experiences and learn from some of the best! Additionally, Membership Marketing Manager Jim Kokkines reviewed the tools you need to help you achieve your goals and explained the following recruitment programs in greater depth.

New Member Discount

New members who join in FY2011-12 can save $100 off their membership dues by taking advantage of the extended membership application. This option allows new members to extend their HFMA membership through May 31, 2013 and save on their membership dues at the same time.

At-Risk Members List

The "At-Risk" Members list for your chapter is now available. To request a copy, email HFMA's Membership Manager or call (800) 252-4362, ext. 339. Your efforts to increase member involvement and interest pay dividends when renewal time comes around.

Here's how your chapter can lower the number of non-renewers in June:

Contact at-risk members right away. Divide your list of at-risk members among members of your chapter's membership committee. Remind at-risk members about the many benefits of HFMA membership. A full listing of membership benefits is available online.

Update addresses and telephone numbers. One of the biggest challenges to HFMA's renewal effort is incorrect telephone/address information. HFMA is currently contacting members to verify membership information. Frequently remind members at chapter meetings to provide updated information when they move. Take time to regularly forward updated member information to HFMA.

2011-2012 Member-Get-A-Member Program

Recruit one or two new members who begin their membership between June 1, 2011, and April 30, 2012, or former* HFMA members who reactivate their membership between August 1, 2011, and April 30, 2012, and you will win your choice of an HFMA apparel item (approximate retail value of $25) or a $25 Visa® Gift Card, good anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, worldwide.

Recruit three or four new and/or former* HFMA members and you will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card. You will also be entered into a drawing among all those recruiting three or four to receive a $1,000 cash prize.

Recruit five or more new and/or former* members and you will receive a $150 Visa Gift Card. You will also be entered into a drawing among all those recruiting five or more to receive a $2,500 cash prize.

Recruiting is easy with Member-Get-a-Member brochures to share with your members and cards to share with prospective members .

Member-Get-A-Member Rewards-iPAD drawing (until Feb. 28)

For each new or former member you recruit, you will receive one entry into a drawing for a new iPad! We will hold the next drawing in March, contact the winner, and publish the winner's name in the following month's Membership Marketing Brief.

Share your experiences with potential members. As a current HFMA member, you are in the best possible position to impact HFMA's future. Satisfied members are more likely to recommend membership to others, and to renew their memberships. And prospective members are more likely to pay attention to the recommendation of someone they know. After all, membership is one of the best professional decisions you can make. And we want to reward members for sharing their experiences!

Member-Get-A-Member Make a Difference Grand Prize

For every new or former member a current member recruits, the recruiter will receive one entry into the drawing for the Member-Get-A-Member Make A Difference Grand Prize worth $5,000-$3,000 in cash for the winner and a $2,000 donation in the winner's name to the charity organization of his or her choice.
