Summary

At the forefront of ICD-10 preparedness, Christiana Care Health System completed a comprehensive ICD-10 impact assessment. Through the assessment, more than 60 departments across the organization were interviewed to assess impact to workflow/systems, reviewed coding and documentation practices, and assessed the financial impact of ICD-10. The results of the assessment organized the transition plan into four keys streams of work:

  1. Integration and alignment with other key initiatives, such as computer-assisted-coding and clinical documentation improvement
  2. Business operations and workflow design/redesign
  3. System remediation and testing
  4. Education and training

This session will detail how Christiana Care Health System has prepared for the ICD-10 transition by accurately assessing their needs and integrating computer-assisted-coding technology and clinical documentation improvement to offset productivity impacts and mitigate financial risk.
