2009 ANI Physician Alignment Forum Notes: Clinical Collaboration

The Physician Alignment Forum had a lively discussion at the 2009 ANI Forum Breakfast roundtables on Clinical Collaboration. Here are some of the highlights:

Hospital billing under arrangement for non-governmental physician services - hospital bills physician services in surgery center and collects hospital rates and pay physician a fee schedule
More PCP employment by hospital. Better than competing with them or subsidizing their growth
ED call pay is going up dramatically. Need to subsidize physicians
Spin off employed physicians to an LLC. Advantage = autonomy; managed as a physician group; physicians engaged in management of group
Physician EMR being funded by hospital to extent allowable by law
