ANI Discussion Notes - Cost Report Claim Issues

The Medicare Payment Forum had a lively discussion at the 2009 ANI Forums Breakfast roundtables on cost report claim issues. Here are some highlights:

Medicare bad debts - Consider having claims returned from collection after 1-2 years, but leave on collection report. Make sure hospital is shown as creditor, not collection agency. All accounts should be returned, not just Medicare.
Supplies - segregate revenues and costs for implantables in anticipation of new cost report forms - Revenue codes 275, 276, 278 and 624.
