• Audio: Gaining Staff Buy-In for a 24/7 Visitor Policy

    Jul 15, 2015

Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), Martinez, Calif., addressed staff concerns about a 24/7 visitor policy by giving staff various ways to show a welcoming spirit even when they couldn’t support family presence during invasive procedures or other critical care. “We took away the all-or-nothing option and allowed staff to really have options to offer families. And we have not had complaints. What I’ve gotten more so is nurses and physicians and clinicians sending me messages, saying how proud they are that we took this step, and how they feel it’s changed the healing experience in their unit,” says Anna Roth, CEO.

After listening to this audio clip, read a longer interview with Roth on CCRMC’s view of patients and families as partners in care.
