Eisenhower Medical Center
Summary
Like many hospitals, Eisenhower Medical Center struggled to control costly hospital-acquired infections and improve best practices. With a growing elderly population, leaders knew they faced an elevated level of chronic and debilitating conditions that could present a yet bigger challenge. Eisenhower chose to address two critical opportunities for improvement: ventilator associated pneumonia prevention and stroke core measure compliance. Using visual surveillance technology and a multidisciplinary process involving nursing, physicians, and ancillary services, administrators built a collaborative environment that demonstrated rapid and positive results.
