Chicago - June 19, 2006 – The Healthcare Financial Management Association’s (HFMA’s) most prestigious chapter award, the Robert M. Shelton Award for Sustained Excellence, was presented to the Oklahoma Chapter on June 19 during the 53rd Annual Chapter Presidents’ Dinner and Meeting at HFMA’s Annual National Institute in Orlando, Florida.
The Shelton Award is given in recognition of five years of sustained excellence in service to members. In the past five years, the Oklahoma Chapter has displayed strong and steady growth in membership, achieving an average annual increase of 5.1 percent. In addition, the chapter averaged more than 82 percent in new member retention and more than 90 percent in overall retention during the five-year period.
The Oklahoma Chapter has also displayed strong and steady growth in education, averaging a 13.5 percent increase in registrant hours over the past five years. The chapter earned a 3.30 satisfaction rating from its members, which is well above the 75th percentile mark of 3.16 for all chapters.
This year the Oklahoma Chapter earned a Hottum Award, three Awards of Excellence and four Helen M. Yerger Awards, and over the last five years, the chapter earned a total of 30 awards overall!
“The Oklahoma chapter has done excellent work over the past five years, particularly in the area of new member retention,” says HFMA President and CEO Richard L. Clarke. “The chapter is very deserving of this most prestigious award.”
