Here's What They Are Saying

Why the record-breaking attendance levels? There are a number of reasons. ANI continues to draw more repeat attendees based on the value they’ve found from attending this event. This year’s ANI features more educational sessions than ever before — 87 — with practical solutions targeted at member needs and case studies and tools from hospitals across the country. The wealth of educational resources and networking opportunities available at ANI make the annual conference the event for healthcare finance.

Here's what they had to say when asked why they came to this year's ANI Conference:

“I am going to ANI for the first time this year because I finally was able to fit the date for the conference into my schedule. I am looking forward to many of the breakout sessions and looking forward to the networking. I have been in health care for many years, but have been a CFO for the last two. I feel that I need much of the information available.”

—Sharon McGowan
CFO
Community Memorial Hospital
Hicksville, Ohio

“I have been a member of HFMA for more than 25 years and have never attended ANI. Plus, I am the 2008–09 president-elect of my chapter. That combination drove me to make ANI a priority this year. “I am looking forward to networking with other HFMA members on issues that they are dealing with that usually take a bit longer to reach my market, such as competitive pricing. I am really looking forward to ANI, and I hope to make it an annual event!”

—Gayla D. Harvey
Corporate Vice President, Financial Services
The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, Inc.
Cincinnati

“ANI brings together the top healthcare financial executives in the country. It also provides the best opportunity to stay up to date with current trends in health care. I’m looking forward to networking with my healthcare financial peers, hearing current feedback from the excellent guest speakers, and attending pertinent breakout sessions.”

—Joseph B. Ford, CPA
Manager, Financial Services
St. Vincent Health, Inc.
Indianapolis

“I had never been to ANI, and due to our fiscal year-end and budget deadlines, the June meeting never worked well for me before, but this year I was able to make it work in the calendar. I also have other corporate meetings in Las Vegas right before and after ANI, so I was able to combine trips and save money. ANI also will enable me to earn CPE credit.”

—Blaine Petersen
Vice President Financial Services
Catholic Health Initiatives
Denver

“Although I’ve been interested in attending ANI in prior years (due to the high quality of speakers, timely topics, and the opportunity to earn CPE credit), the timing of the conference often conflicted with other summer activities for the family. This year, we decided to vacation in the west—to see the Grand Canyon and other points of interest that are either near or on the way to Las Vegas, and add the conference at the end of our vacation. “The sessions I’ve signed up for all relate to very current issues/opportunities that I have responsibility for at our hospitals. I’m looking forward to getting some new ideas and insights—maybe even an epiphany—as to how to more effectively manage those opportunities once I get back to work. My organization is also starting to look at enhancing some of its financial systems and executive decision support tools, and I’ll have the chance to do a ‘fly by’ at numerous vendor exhibits to see the latest stuff in the market.”

—Mike Norby
Vice President, Financial Services
Harris County Hospital District
Houston

“I’m interested in learning as much as possible about the revised Form 990, particularly Schedule H, during sessions at this year’s ANI.”

—Jane Steinberger, CPA
Financial Analyst
St. Vincent Hospital
Green Bay, Wis.

“This conference is perfectly timed for attendees who want to learn more about the legislative updates that will affect providers, such as those from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Office of Inspector General. I’m also looking forward to attending sessions that address ways to enhance physician-hospital relations.”

—Lynne Tromble
Chief Administrative Officer
CorVasc MD’s
Indianapolis

“I’m president-elect for the South Carolina Chapter. I’m looking forward to the chapter awards presentation as well as the opportunity to get in touch with old friends and make new friends in the industry.”

—Raymond High
Vice President, Customer Improvement
MedAssets
Sumter, S.C.

“I haven’t had the opportunity to attend ANI the past couple of years, and I always have a great experience when I do. I’ve really been looking forward to this year’s conference.”
