Located in Greensboro, NC, Moses Cone Health System is a multi-hospital system with a range of outpatient services designed to provide care for area residents throughout all stages of their lives. It has spent three years planning for a significant investment in EMRs at its five hospitals and several outpatient clinics.
In this session, John Jenkins, CIO, and Dr. Bruce Swords, CMIO, will discuss their organization’s need to implement an EMR system for ambulatory and inpatient settings. Moses Cone's goal was to enhance patient care by providing physicians throughout the health system with access to the same patient information. They will discuss the primary success factors for implementation including collaboration between physicians, administration, project managers, and their system vendors. So far implementation is complete in over half of the 35 clinics. Physicians are already saying they are able to provide better patient care because of the increased quality of data.
