Q: I am interested in hearing from hospitals that use a vendor for on-line bill pay through the hospital’s web site. We want our patients to have the ability to pay by check or credit care without having to validate against a file. In other words, we want patients to have the ability to pay on-line and add their account # and banking information without looking up or validating against an account number. It would be a plus if the vendor also supports checks by phone and the ability to donate to our Foundation.
A: We worked with three different companies to try and accomplish this task, reviewed the options from each and chose the least costly one that provided the functionality we needed.
- Our local bank (non-national branch) had options to accomplish this and we provided them with our requirements and they sent us a proposal.
- We hosted our website off-site and our internet provider was able to create a program to accomplish this for us.
- We checked with our National Bank (they held our bonds) and asked them what they could do to accommodate this request.
Ultimately we chose the website/internet provider because they could customize the program for us. Hope this helps.
