Additional Individuals Exempt from Proving Citizenship for Medicaid Benefits

In a letter to state Medicaid directors, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services explains recent amendments to the Social Security Act, which exempt two additional groups of individuals from having to prove their citizenship before receiving Medicaid benefits. Now exempt are individuals who are receiving disability insurance benefits, and children who are receiving child welfare services because they are in foster care and children who are receiving adoption or foster care assistance.
