What do you do at HFMA?
HFMA’s web site is our window to our members and the world. As manager of web content strategy for HFMA, I am responsible for the presentation and arrangement of content on the association’s external web site. This includes developing and communicating style guidelines for the site, working with others to help them edit the materials that they create, and making suggestions for web-friendly presentation methods.
We’ve also been working on new navigation and content categories that will make it easy to locate information on the web site. Our focus is on demonstrating the value of membership in HFMA through the accessibility, variety, and high quality of the resources we offer on the site.
HFMA’s web site serves many purposes—and one of the main purposes is to provide updated, relevant, helpful information to our members. I am fortunate to play an integral role in this.
What do you like about life here?
My colleagues are great. The work environment is friendly and professional. This is an exciting time to be involved in health care and I believe that this will be an exciting place to work for years to come.
HFMA members and staff also share a commitment to improving the healthcare system. We support our members in their efforts to provide hospitals with the resources they need to best serve their patients, and to do so as efficiently as possible. This has a positive impact not only on a hospital’s bottom line, but also on everyone in the community that the hospital serves.
Why did you choose to work at HFMA
There are several reasons I decided to join HFMA. I previously worked at a professional association for lawyers, and this opportunity provided an opportunity to enter a new field and learn a new subject area that I found challenging and interesting. I liked the people I met during the interview process. HFMA’s benefits package is comprehensive and generous. The office is conveniently and centrally located from just about anywhere in the Chicagoland area. And since I’ve been here, I have found HFMA’s members to be friendly, responsive, engaged, and focused on getting the job done. There is a mutual respect between the members and HFMA staff that I admire.
