Position Description:

This position functions in an objective manner, as the staff expert and consultant to plan and organize the Association’s activities in designated subject areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management of key market segments by defining, analyzing, and consulting on the needs and ultimate delivery of content for assigned segments.
    • Translate knowledge about the segment into recommendations for feasible, effective new products
    • Consult with or have the technical expertise to provide advice related to meaningful, tailored products.
  • Monitor industry developments, trends and provide recommendations and expertise on selected healthcare issues
    • Write and coordinate documents for HFMA Web site and other communication channels
    • Coordinate information, tools, and education on the issues, evaluate proposed education and other products, recruit presenters/possible partnered products to fill identified gaps. Ensure content is packaged into appropriate delivery vehicles.  Ensure customer and content needs are addressed in products.  Articulate learning or knowledge objectives and outcomes for use by product managers.
  • Serve, as needed, as staff liaison for expert advisory panels and other governing bodies including Forum Advisory Councils, National Advisory Council, HFMA Chapters and Board of Examiners.
  • Assist, as needed, in the technical due diligence process for partners and peer review.
  • Writes documents and prepares information pieces for HFMA website and other communication channels.
  • Monitor ongoing e-learning review process to ensure timely updating, develop e-learning lessons as necessary to ensure completeness, and provide e-learning product manager source content from which lessons are created.
  • Assist in the development of and update educational tools when necessary (e.g., the development of OIG compliance checklist). Identify selected additional topics appropriate for ATCs/AWCs and other education.
  • Participate as necessary in educational programming review, including preparing recommendations for speaker and topical selection relative to managed care.
  • Support in the following duties:
    • Help construct new business plans
    • Assist with content lifecycle management for websites and other products
    • Monitor developments and provide leadership and expertise on selected healthcare plans.
    • As needed, coordinate information, tools, and education on issues, evaluate proposed education and other products, recruit presenters/possible, partnered products to fill identified gaps.  Ensure content is packaged into appropriate delivery vehicles.
    • Help develop comment letters and positions for HFMA to add a “vote” for the profession as appropriate.

Qualifications

Three to five years of progressive experience in healthcare organizations, professional service organizations (e.g., law firm, accounting firm), governmental agency or association.  An undergraduate degree in accounting, healthcare delivery, management, or a related field is preferred.  In lieu of an undergraduate degree, other evidence of healthcare finance knowledge required.  A demonstrable speaking and writing competence is required.
