What do you do at HFMA?
I lead the team that develops HFMA’s live educational programs. We ensure that the education content is timely, relevant to our members’ needs, and easily accessed by our members. We use audio conference calls, eLearning platforms, conferences, and seminars to examine the strategic challenges confronting our members’ organizations. We strive to help our members help their organizations thrive in the current healthcare environment. I’m also responsible for directing the certification program. We offer certification in four different functional areas: Accounting & Finance, Patient Financial Services, Managed Care, and Physician Practice Management. I interact closely with HFMA’s Board of Examiners, certification staff, and HFMA’s psychometric consultants.
What do you like about life here?
I feel blessed to work with a talented group of people--both staff and members--who are committed to keeping hospitals financially healthy. We care about what we do and we want to make a difference. Why did you choose to work at HFMA? I was employed with another professional association that worked closely with HFMA on joint education programs. I admired HFMA’s mission and its commitment to helping hospitals serve their communities. It was then that I decided to join the team here. I’m so proud of the work HFMA does.
