HFMA’s Clarke Named to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential

HFMA President and CEO Richard L. Clarke, DHA, FHFMA, was named to Modern Healthcare magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare. Clarke is one of only 10 individuals who have been recognized in this distinguished list since its inception in 2002. Dr. Clarke ranked 61.

Nominees were determined by readers who recognized individuals considered to have the greatest impact on the U.S. healthcare industry. More than 400,000 nominations were made by readers; 300 were named to the online ballot.

Dr. Clarke, who announced in July that he would be retiring on July 31, 2012, has been president and chief executive officer since 1986. During his tenure, HFMA has experienced membership growth and operating revenue growth, as well as broad influence in improving healthcare efficiency and effectiveness through initiatives such as HFMA’s Value Project.

During his distinguished career, he held executive positions at major healthcare systems in Colorado and Florida. He is a former chairman of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, and AHA Financial Solutions, Inc. Additionally he served on the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Seventh District Advisory Council.

He currently serves on several committees and the Board of Directors of CHRISTUS Health in Dallas, Texas, as well as the Finance and Strategy Committee for Catholic Healthcare Partners in Cincinnati, Ohio.
