May 6—U.S. hospitals added 2,700 jobs in April, a 0.06 percent increase from the previous month, according to monthly employment rate data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The increase follows a 0.16 percent change from February to March.

The seasonally adjusted number of hospital jobs climbed from 4,787,500 in April 2012 to 4,836,200 in April 2013, an increase of 57,700 jobs (1.21 percent) for the year.

The healthcare industry overall grew by 19,000 jobs in April, with 13,600 attributed to employment growth in ambulatory healthcare services and the remaining 2,700 to nursing and residential care facilities. From April 2012 to April 2013, healthcare employment increased by 287,700 jobs (2.02 percent).
