I joined HFMA because: It was an opportunity to network and stay informed.
Responsible for: Managing the sales and client relations team for the hospital division, focusing on client satisfaction and growth.
Best part of my job: Meeting new people and being able to provide them with a solution to a problem they are facing.
First involvement with HFMA: Serving on the planning committee for our spring conference.
Favorite HFMA memory: Attending LTC with my leadership team for my president year.
Benefits of my HFMA involvement: It has allowed me to grow relationships that have allowed me to be successful in my role and has allowed me to stay current on issues/trend impacting our business.
First job: Wendy’s (fast food).
Most unusual job: Campus Police (University of Akron).
Family: I have been married to my loving wife Lori for 22 years and have two great kids Allison (16) and Hayden (8).
Pets: Two dogs (Baylor and Bosco) and two cats (Camper and Naomi).
Hobbies: Anything related to sports (golf, softball, basketball) both playing and watching.
If I’m not working, you’ll find me: Coaching my kids in sports, playing golf and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.
Proudest moment: Walking across the stage when I earned my MBA and having the chance for my children see me accomplish this goal so that they can understand the value of education and achieving a goal that you set for yourself.
Most difficult goal I’ve achieved: Obtaining my MBA.
Best advice I’ve received: Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
My favorite quote: is from my father who always said “nobody said it would be easy.”
Favorite sports team: Pittsburgh Steelers.
Favorite band: Van Halen.
A book I’d recommend is: The Bible – need I say more!
Hero/Mentor: My mother, Pat Reed. She was the strongest person I ever knew and at the same time had a heart of gold that was only capable of providing unconditional love and support.
People might be surprised to know that: I’m adopted.
