• Sidebar: What is Interactive Patient Care Technology?

    Mar 21, 2011

Interactive patient care technology transforms the in-room television into a simple-to-use interactive information, education, and entertainment platform, according to a report, Enhancing the Patient Experience through the Use of Interactive Technology.

    It enables patients to:

    • Find out information about their hospital stay, safety, and hand washing
    • View health education videos
    • Order meals
    • Ask housekeeping to clean their room
    • Provide real-time feedback through inpatient surveys
    • Watch movies
    • Browse the Internet and send e-mail

Clinicians and staff members can automatically push personalized content to the patients according to their condition, recovery process, and hospital policies, and patients can deliver real-time feedback with the touch of a button.

Hospitals using interactive technology to communicate with patients have increased patient satisfaction scores by approximately 10 percent and increased patient satisfaction with hospital educational materials and courses by as much as 42 percent.
