Summary

As organizations transform their business models from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement, financial leaders are increasingly assessing the investments required to build these capabilities, and reviewing the anticipated outcomes required for success. Concerns about the impact of the pace of changes, shifting of utilization, and impact on the acute care environment is resulting in the creation of performance-driven value models that help CFO and medical leadership answer questions around levels of investment, anticipated ROI, project changes in utilization impacting average length of stay, readmissions, and ER visits.

 

This session will provide detailed information on the key resources required to build a value model, including the data sets required, expected output of the model, and how the value model output will drive decision making. You’ll also review cases detailing how high performing organization build performance-driven models, as well as how they used the model outputs to ensure appropriate level of staffing, alignment with their value-based contracts and evaluate their return on investments in care management services of certain populations.  Finally, you’ll participate in small group discussions that will result in an actionable sample model.
