Dear CT HFMA Members,
I am so pleased that you are a member of the Connecticut Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association Our chapter dates back over 70 years and I am honored to hold the role of President for this year. My journey with HFMA began all the way back in 2009 when I began volunteering. Through the years I held supporting roles on several committees, served as Chair for the sponsorship, communications, and networking committees, and have served on the Board of Directors for both the Hudson Valley, NY, and Connecticut chapters. Volunteering for those roles over the years was extremely rewarding in so many ways. Whether it was gaining leadership skills, team building, creating newsletters (something I had zero experience in) or putting on great programs and networking events, it’s safe to say that I honed these skills with HFMA. But for me, the most rewarding part of all these years has been all the people I have met and become friends with. While we all have day jobs, volunteering just created a sense of comradery, and most importantly, it created a network for me. And to me, that is what is so important and great about HFMA: It’s your network! Throughout my time with HFMA I have seen so many colleagues lean on their network for many things. Maybe it’s an issue they are having and looking for a peer they know can offer guidance or want to explore new opportunities at another company or looking for an introduction or contact or simply getting a recommendation for a vacation spot. These are all times when you need to rely on your network!
With this in mind, I hope you will not only enjoy the benefits of your national membership and our local chapter, but I also hope you will take that next step to get involved. Join a committee, help out an event, contribute to our Chapter Resource Guide. However small you start, I guarantee you won’t regret it. We have an amazing leadership team and I will say we are also a fun approachable group. As our incoming National Chair’s theme says, Ignite the Spark!
This coming year is going to be a great one. We are already hard at work putting together educational programs and a series of networking events all designed to help you gain knowledge, learn new skills, and BUILD YOUR NETWORK!!! And a big thanks to our corporate sponsors. Without their generous support, we wouldn’t be able to do any of this. So thank you sponsors, thank you volunteers, and thank you members. Join us for the fun!!
CT HMFA President, 2022-2023

Check Out Our Second Annual Chapter Resource Guide!
Back by popular demand! We are happy to announce the second edition of our Chapter Resource Guide. It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since our first publication but we have had a lot going on behind the scenes to get this second annual publication out. Similar to last year, you will find interactive links to Advertisements, contact info and event registration while also providing perspective from industry experts and your fellow members! One major change this year is that we intend to make this year’s magazine a living document! We will continue to add pictures, chapter updates, and compelling articles/interviews with healthcare and political leaders. So please check the guide frequently and we will also continue to send out communications when new content is added.
And if you are interested in helping with the Chapter Resource Guide or social media, please reach out to us at email@example.com to learn more about volunteering with our Communications committee!
