Position Summary:
The Financial Manager (Apella/payroll) oversees various components of the general accounting, general ledger and financial reporting for the Spartanburg Regional Health Services District, LLC (District) and Apella Health Management, LLC (Apella). In particular, the Financial Manager (Apella/payroll) focuses on Apella, affiliates and joint ventures of the District, as well as management of the payroll area.
The Financial Manager (Apella/payroll) has responsibility for the following:
- Ensuring that all transactions and disbursements comply with District and Apella policies and procedures and any appropriate governmental regulations
- Ensuring that the District and Apella payroll related liabilities are appropriately computed and paid.
- Establishing and monitoring internal controls around the payroll process to ensure accuracy
Establishing and monitoring proper accounting practices, including:
- Month-end closing activities
- Financial Statement Preparation and Reporting
- Facilitating and/or coordinating the work of the external auditors
- Communicating financial results and analysis with management monthly
- Tax reporting compliance
- Researching and Advising department management on Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) standards
- Supervising financial analysts performing month-end and routine journal entries, as well as payroll staff
- Developing and maintaining internal controls over reporting to ensure practices are in accordance with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles)
- Other accounting and reporting activities as directed by the System Controller or CFO.
- Ensuring that at month end all asset and liability general ledger balances are appropriately stated and in accordance with GAAP This position is customer focused and ensures that all operations function to meet the needs of internal and external customers while adhering to all appropriate controls and applicable policies.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master of Accountancy or MBA preferred Experience 7-10 years of experience required; 12 years or more preferred
- License/Registration/Certifications CPA Preferred CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred

Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Manager, the Sr. Financial Analyst 1 – Reporting (Accounting) is responsible for applying principles of accounting to perform various general accounting duties related to the completion of timely and accurate monthly financial statements for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and related entities. He/she will record transactions for designated sections of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System financial statements and will be responsible for having a working knowledge of all other areas. Be responsible for maintaining the financial records for assigned general ledger areas, and for reviewing, auditing, and preparing analysis of sections of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System financial statements. This position will also be responsible for month and year-end financial statement preparation, for both internal and external purposes, and SEC reporting. Will work closely with the Manager – Accounting and is also responsible for providing support to other department directors/managers. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree Accounting or related field
Preferred:
- Master’s degree Accounting or related field (Masters in Accountancy or MBA, with concentration in Accounting)
Experience Required:
- 6 years of relevant accounting experience
Preferred:
- 8+ years of relevant healthcare accounting experience, FASB, GASB, GAAP
License/Registration/Certifications Preferred:
- CPA or related certification
