CY17 Medicare Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System Proposed Rule Summary

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the calendar year 2017 (CY17) proposed rule for Medicare’s hospital outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) and ambulatory surgical center (ASC) payment system on July 6, 2016; if finalized, policies in the proposed rule generally would take effect on January 1, 2017. The rule was published in the July 14^th issue of the Federal Register. The 60-day public comment period ends at close of business on September 6^th.
