Zeke Emanuel to Headline Healthcare Finance Conference

Ezekiel (“Zeke”) Emanuel, MD, PhD, will deliver the closing keynote address at the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s (HFMA’s) Revenue Cycle Conference, to be held on October 21-23 in Denver.  Emanuel authored Prescription for the Future: The Twelve Transformational Practices of Highly Effective Medical Organizations. During his session, Emanuel will share tools for achieving higher-quality, more patient-focused, and lower-cost care through the adoption of these practices. Emanuel also serves as Vice Provost for Global Initiatives and Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.   

Over the course of three days, the Revenue Cycle Conference will address the impact of consumerism and innovation on the revenue cycle and highlight best practices for providing a seamless patient financial care experience. It’s designed to help participants from all provider settings—including physician practices, specialty care facilities, independent hospitals, and integrated delivery networks—understand the linkages between a patient focus and success and create a patient-focused service mentality that spans the full delivery system.

“A patient-centric revenue cycle is vital to both patient satisfaction and organizational financial health,” said HFMA President and CEO Joseph J. Fifer, FHFMA, CPA. “This conference enables providers to engage with thought leaders and peers, and come away with best practices and innovative approaches to consumerism that are right for their organizations.”

  • A panel discussion on “What Does Innovation Look Like for the Revenue Cycle?” Panelists include Tracy Peffley, Senior Director, Revenue Cycle Management, Cleveland Clinic;  Gerilynn Sevenikar, Vice President of Hospital Revenue Cycle, Sharp Healthcare; and Karen Shafer-Platt, Vice-President, Revenue Cycle, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. 

A variety of pre-conference workshopsbreakout sessions, and networking sessions, and facilitated table conversations round out the agenda.
