Q. How can I prepare and apply for the 2011 MAP Award?
A. Attend this year's MAP Event in San Diego, Calif., Nov. 7 - 9, which will feature a session on preparing and applying for the MAP Award. The online application for the 2011 MAP Award will also be available at that time.
What does the award recognize?
A. The award recognizes healthcare organizations that are distinctive, innovative and effective in revenue cycle process improvements and patient satisfaction. In addition, it recognizes sustainable financial performance that serves the mission of the organization.
Q. Where do the award criteria come from?
A. They are based on HFMA's MAP Keys—revenue cycle key performance indicators developed by HFMA’s KPI Task Force—and on six key revenue cycle competencies, including people, processes, technology, metrics, communication, and culture.
Q. Who is eligible to apply for the award?
A. All acute-care hospitals are eligible.
Q. Do I have to be an HFMA member to apply?
A. To be eligible, an executive leader in your organization must be a member of HFMA.
Q. What if I am part of a system?
A. The award is hospital-specific, so you must apply as an individual hospital.
Q. How will my organization be recognized if we win the award?
A. Award recipients are recognized at HFMA events—including ANI: The Healthcare Finance Conference and the MAP Event—and in HFMA publications such as hfm magazine and Revenue Cycle Strategist. Award winners also become part of a distinguished peer group of healthcare finance leaders who are helping to define best practices for a high performance revenue cycle.
