5 reasons to apply for a prestigious MAP Award for revenue cycle performance

January 24, 2024 11:00 am

For more than a decade, HFMA’s MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle has become the highest honor in the healthcare industry for revenue cycle excellence.

If that’s not enough of a reason to apply for the chance at these accolades, here are five reasons why past winners apply year after year.

1. Bragging Rights

MAP Award winners gain recognition across various HFMA platforms, including print, online, press releases and even on stage at HFMA’s Annual Conference and Revenue Cycle Conference.

2. Applications are now open for 2024

All organizations are encouraged to apply. There are five award categories including hospitals, critical access hospitals, hospital systems, integrated delivery systems and physician practices. Winners excel in meeting industry standard revenue cycle benchmarks called MAP Keys, implementing patient-centered recommendations and best practices, and achieving outstanding patient satisfaction.

3. If you’re unsure how your metrics measure up, we have an app for that

The MAP Award Revenue Cycle Score Calculator is available on the HFMA website and enables you to benchmark your current performance across five MAP Keys against previous MAP Award winners. By inputting values for Net Days Accounts Receivable (A/R), Discharged Not Submitted to Payer (DNSP) Billed A/R > 90, Point of Service (POS) Cash Collection % and Cash Collection %, the calculator generates your score and provides application recommendations.

4. You don’t have to be a MAP App subscriber to apply

Applying for the MAP Award doesn’t require a MAP App subscription. However, to be eligible for this prestigious honor, organizations must demonstrate exemplary MAP Key performance. Detailed MAP Key definitions are available on the HFMA website (free login required) and were developed by industry experts through the MAP Keys Task Force.

5. Make it a team building activity

Past MAP Award-winning organizations have transformed the application process into a remarkable team building activity. By involving team members in information gathering and sharing responsibilities, positive momentum is generated. And for those fortunate enough to win, the celebration becomes even more rewarding.
