Medicare Enrollment Rate Will Peak in 2030

The total number of people enrolled in the Medicare program will increase from 56 million in 2016 to approximately 81 million in 2030. The Medicare enrollment increase will continue to accelerate until 2030 as members of the baby-boom generation become eligible. Beyond 2030, the enrollee rates will continue to increase, but more slowly, after the entire baby-boom generation has become eligible.
