President’s Welcome
The last two years have been exceptionally challenging. Our daily lives were upended due to COVID19 with all of us experiencing new stressors at work and at home. Others have also experienced personal tragedies and losses.
At the same time, we’ve witnessed and experienced extraordinary achievements, advancements, and goodness. We have been a part of real-time innovations in telehealth and long overdue conversations regarding health inequities are occurring. A little closer to home, we’ve been able to spend more time with those in our bubble. We’ve also experienced a new sense of community with people wanting to help however they are able.
As we emerge from the pandemic, my wish for us is that we be better, we are stronger and we remain together.
BETTER: I am very proud to announce that Oregon HFMA will be formalizing our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work. Oregon HFMA is on a journey. We strive to be inclusive and celebrate multiple approaches and points of view. We believe diversity drives innovation so we’re building a culture where difference is valued. More importantly, creating an environment where everyone, from every background, feels welcomed and valued is the right thing to do.
New and exciting changes will be announced soon. Please join me in celebrating and embracing this work.
STRONGER: I firmly believe that each and every one of us in this room is stronger than we were two years ago because overcoming adversities builds strength. The challenges that we have faced may have been different but we all rose to the occasion. We are here today because of perseverance, resilience, passion and dedication.
I urge you to take these qualities and apply them to Oregon HFMA. Let’s do the work! Let’s have difficult conversations! Let’s roll up our sleeves and dig in! Because, ultimately, I know we will be stronger because of it.
TOGETHER: You are what makes the Oregon HFMA chapter so successful. Our secret sauce is no longer secret! Our people are amazing! So thank you! You are all the very best and the reason why HFMA is so important to me.
We are BETTER.STRONGER.TOGETHER.
I feel so very proud and honored to serve as Oregon HFMA’s President. This year’s annual conference theme was Homecoming. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate being back together. To celebrate, friends from near and far have wished us well.
I want to thank both past and present chapter leadership; your dedication, creativity and passion continue to amaze me. Thank you for being valued mentors, partners and friends!
I am also grateful to our sponsors who make our educational and networking events possible.
Cheers to being better, stronger and together!
