President’s Welcome

Healthcare is continually changing, but nothing compares to the pace at which it had to adapt to change as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, people in traditional Finance roles were tasked to become Covid screeners, work in Environmental Services, Food Services etc. Many of us can recall the hardships that came with the pandemic, but it also allowed us an opportunity to “think outside the box” both professionally and personally. HFMA needed to pivot in this time of uncertainty. Although we missed seeing everyone, it was important that we continue to offer quality education to our members and Cloud based technology allowed us to do so. It also allowed for collaboration with our other regional chapters and we provided fun, socially distant, virtual wine-tastings, cooking classes, etc. We are continually grateful to ALL our business partners for your generous support over the past year. We appreciate all you do for our chapter!

My goal as this year’s President is to continue with providing virtual educational programs as well as get us back to in-person meetings with opportunities for face-to-face networking events. This year’s theme to take the approach to be “Bolder, Better, Brighter” is exactly what we are going to do. Our new national chair is challenging us to focus on what follows “after” and determine what “better” looks like. As we host our first in-person meeting at Troeg’s in Hershey, PA, I challenge all of you to help define our after.

I am honored to serve as this year’s president of the Central PA chapter of HFMA. I would like to thank our past-president, Kristy Richmond, for all her efforts over the past year and her continued support. I am pleased to announce Nick Barbera will be serving as President-Elect, Chris Schenkel serving as Secretary and Amber Schon serving as Treasurer. We also have a wonderful group of directors who will work hard to provide continued leadership.
