The award was presented in five categories, ranging from physician practices and critical access hospitals to integrated delivery systems.
Thirty-two hospitals and health systems were honored June 29 with HFMA’s MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle.
Presented as part of HFMA’s Annual Conference Virtual Preview, the awards recognize organizations that have used innovative and effective strategies to achieve excellence in revenue cycle performance in 2020-21. Award recipients are acknowledged as industry leaders and share proven strategies with their colleagues.
MAP Award winners are selected based on their demonstrated ability to:
- Meet industry-standard revenue cycle benchmarks as measured by HFMA’s MAP Keys
- Implement the patient-centered recommendations and best practices described in HFMA’s Healthcare Dollars & Sense initiatives
- Achieve outstanding patient satisfaction

“Cass County Memorial Hospital is extremely honored to be recognized for this great achievement in the area of our revenue cycle,” Cindy Petty, revenue cycle director at the critical access hospital, said in an HFMA news release. “Across our organization, the dedication and support of our entire revenue cycle team has helped us become a high-performing organization.”
Allen saluted the winners, along with 17 organizations that received the MAP Certificate of Recognition in Revenue Cycle Achievement.
“Your commitment to revenue cycle performance excellence and patient-friendly business practices — in the midst of a pandemic, no less — is truly remarkable,” he said during the video announcement of the awards.
“As our nation emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the consumer-friendly business practices exemplified by our 2021 winners are more important than ever,” HFMA President and CEO Joe Fifer, FHFMA, CPA, said in the release. “Kudos to all of the MAP Award winners.”
The MAP Award winners will be celebrated as part of HFMA’s in-person Annual Conference event, Nov. 8-10 in Minneapolis.
