Each year, leaders of HFMA’s chapters and regions gather at the Leadership Training Conference to plan for the year ahead and to acquire the skills and resources needed to go back home and make it happen.
This year’s event took place April 16-18 in San Antonio, Texas. One of the highlights was the volunteer recognition dinner where the following winners of HFMA’s 2022-23 Chapter/Region Success Awards were announced:
Best Value: Iowa Chapter and Region 3
Best Engagement: North Carolina Chapter, Oregon Chapter and Region 6
Innovation: Mississippi Chapter, Oklahoma Chapter and Puerto Rico Chapter
“This is just the third year for the Success Award, and the competition was strong,” said Brianna Slominski, MBA, HFMA’s volunteer experience manager, who pointed to the 50% increase in submissions as evidence of how hard HFMA chapters and regions are working to innovate and meet their members’ needs.
The Iowa Chapter successfully revamped its payer panel event to better meet member needs.Region 3 promoted member value by offering unique educational sessions across the region virtually.The North Carolina Chapter strategically employed social media platforms to provide its members with meaningful content.The Oregon Chapter initiated a president swap with the West Virginia Chapter with the aim of sharing best practices, fostering collaboration and encouraging networking.Region 6 was recognized for its first-ever conference, which had the largest percentage of provider participation compared to three other longstanding regional events.The Mississippi Chapter launched the “MS Road Show,” taking events to different areas of the state so more members could attend.The Oklahoma Chapter’s first-ever women’s event exceeded goals and objectives.The Puerto Rico Chapter hosted the “HFMA MAP Keys Top Performer Academy,” encouraging the use of the MAP keys and app for the first time in Puerto Rico.
