Question: Our health system is looking for information regarding positions in the budget area. Do you have a single position responsible for the capital and operating budget function across your health system, or is the function spread out with positions responsible for a specific function such as operating budget separate from capital and fixed assets? If it is separated out, how are responsibilities grouped? Can you also confirm what level the position(s) are (i.e., director, manager)?
We are exploring the possibility of creating a capital budget position and an operating budget position, and are interested to learn if others have done something similar.
Answer: At my system, the operating and capital budget is managed by our financial planning department. Fixed assets are managed by general accounting.
