Phoenix Children’s Hospital hires HFMA members Perez and Yeager, promotes member Phillips

Three HFMA members, including one who previously worked in the Midwest, accepted new jobs at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. They are:

Connie Perez, FHFMA, RN, BSN

Connie Perez, FHFMA, RN, BSN, now vice president of revenue cycle at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona. She was previously president at Adreima, also in Phoenix. Perez is a member of the Arizona Chapter, where she was Chapter president in 2011-12.

Ryan Yeager, CHFP, CPA

Ryan Yeager, CHFP, CPA, has newly transitioned to the role of controller at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona. His previous title was executive director of centralized accounting operations at UnityPoint Health in West Des Moines, Iowa. Since 2016, Yeager was a member of the Iowa Chapter, but he joined the Arizona Chapter in 2020 and is on the Chapter’s sponsorship committee.

Jamie L. Phillips, JD, MBA, CPA

Jamie L. Phillips, JD, MBA, CPA, accepted the role of vice president of finance at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona. She was previously Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s vice president of revenue cycle. Before joining Phoenix Children’s, she was vice president and corporate controller at Mercy Health in Cincinnati. Phillips is a member of the Arizona Chapter and is currently the audit chair. 

Burns joins HCA Healthcare as director

Frank M. Burns, FHFMA, CHFP, MBA

Frank M. Burns, FHFMA, CHFP, MBA, was appointed as the new division reimbursement director for the Mountain Division of the HCA Healthcare team in Salt Lake City. Burns was previously senior reimbursement analyst at Centura Health in Centennial, Colorado. He has been a member of the Utah Chapter for more than 12 years and has 20 years of reimbursement experience, including 10 years with the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics. Burns also is an Air Force veteran.

Royal Palm Companies appoints DeMuro as chief legal officer

Paul R. DeMuro, PhD, JD, FHFMA

Paul R. DeMuro, PhD, JD, FHFMA, was recently hired as chief legal officer of health and wellness at Royal Palm Companies in Miami. He was previously an attorney with a regional law firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. DeMuro was the Northern California Chapter’s president in 2002-03, was a member of the Washington Chapter and, since 2015, has been a member of the Florida Chapter. DeMuro has also served as a member of HFMA’s National Board of Directors, its executive committee and its Principles and Practices Board. He has also been a frequent speaker at HFMA events.
