President’s Welcome
As I complete a few busy weeks of Oklahoma HFMA events, I am reminded that it’s the people that make the chapter! Thank you to all that participate in chapter events. Thank you to the business partners that support the chapter in so many ways. Thank you to the providers for all that you do in your day job and for allowing the chapter to provide education and resources. And thank you to the chapter leaders past and present for the time you have invested to make the chapter what it is today.
Recently, we held the Red River Showdown with the Lone Star chapter at the WinStar Hotel, which was a great chance to interact with our friends from North Texas and the first such event since before the pandemic. The annual Region 9 conference in New Orleans brought together all seven chapters in our region and added a little extra spookiness over the Halloween weekend. Finally, the first ever chapter volunteer event was the Walk for JDRF at Scissortail Park in OKC. All of those are just events; the Oklahoma HFMA people made them memorable.
It’s really corny, but it’s true – the more you put in; the more you will get out. I have made great connections and truly great friends through my involvement in the Oklahoma chapter, and I hope the same can be true for anyone else that wants to be involved. There are many ways to participate, but the easiest is just showing up. We have a holiday get together in December, our Winter Meeting January 18 and 19 in Tulsa at the Summit Club and our Annual Meeting in OKC in April 2024. So, whether you are new to chapter events or ready to be more involved, I know it will be worth your time. And I look forward to making more great friends. I hope to see you soon!
