Kiran Batheja: Deliver results. Drive innovation.
Walmart CEO Doug McMillon once said, “Whatever you’ve been asked to do, whatever your role is today, do it really well, deliver results, and do it with integrity.” As HFMA members, we know our North Star is delivering results that enable our organizations to serve our patients. Even in the most challenging times, impactful leaders embrace the responsibility to deliver. That’s why Deliver is a cornerstone of my HFMA Chair’s theme, Lead Now, which stands for Learn, Embrace, Aspire, Deliver, Network, Opportunity and Will.
Within this theme, Deliver reflects how healthcare finance professionals continuously generate and convey results that sustain our organizations and ensure access to quality healthcare across our communities. Likewise, HFMA delivers innovative solutions that empower members to fulfill this responsibility.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act would cut more than $1 trillion from Medicare, Medicaid and marketplace programs established under the Affordable Care Act — limiting plan enrollment and decreasing revenue. At the national level, HFMA delivers timely analysis and resources to help members navigate these unprecedented challenges.
Equally vital, HFMA’s Washington, D.C.–based government relations team provides policymakers with critical insights on the real-world impact of funding cuts and policy changes, advocating for programs essential to healthcare access and financial stability.
HFMA is also delivering the future by cultivating the next generation of healthcare finance leaders. Less than a year after the Association launched its student member scholarship initiative, HFMA chapters have awarded nearly 300 scholarships nationwide — with Region 5 leading the way, awarding 102 scholarships. Each recipient gains full access to HFMA resources and events helping them build their professional future in healthcare finance.
Our members are also thinking creatively about how to deliver results. A standout example comes from the Central Ohio Chapter, whose innovative video campaign to increase volunteer engagement achieved a 37% increase in committee participation, earning a 2025 Chapter Success Award.
No matter our role, every healthcare finance professional must deliver the financial sustainability that ensures our organizations can survive in difficult times and thrive when opportunity arises. We deliver when we use technology to enhance precision and efficiency in every aspect of our work. We deliver when we improve revenue integrity through documentation and coding accuracy. We deliver when we identify denial patterns, monitor payer performance and strengthen the financial health of our institutions.
As Chair, I could not be prouder of HFMA’s staff, chapter leaders and engaged members who embody a shared commitment to delivering excellence. Together, we are taking bold steps, making informed decisions and turning insight into impact.
Let’s continue to learn from one another and leverage the power of our collaborative HFMA community. We must maximize our HFMA membership at this critical time by exploring all available resources — webinars, conferences and chapter programs — all designed to strengthen our ability to deliver for our organizations and for our patients and our communities.
Our purpose is clear — deliver results that matter. In doing so, we Lead Now.
