Published December 9, 2025 2:35 pm

HFMA’s FastFinance newsletter is now a podcast. Host Rich Daly discusses the most current and relevant healthcare news, delivered in an easily digestible format.

Our main story: As states are increasingly requiring pre-screening patients for charity care, a recent industry outreach effort gauged hospital interest and approaches.

Also, this week’s Weird Number: 500,000. That’s how many people quit their jobs in healthcare or social assistance in August — the latest month with a breakdown on that from the Labor Department.

One More Thing: A new lawsuit seeks to stop the Jan. 1 launch of the 340B rebate model. Hospitals filed a lawsuit against the federal government Dec. 1, seeking to halt implementation of the planned 340B rebate model before it begins.
