Austin, Texas (April 27, 2026) – The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) presented David Williams with the 2026 Frederick C. Morgan Individual Achievement Award, honoring career-long contributions to HFMA and to the healthcare finance profession. He received the award at HFMA’s Leadership Summit in Austin.

“Receiving the 2026 Fredrick C. Morgan Achievement Award is truly humbling,” Williams said. “HFMA has been an important part of my professional journey for many years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside colleagues who are committed to advancing healthcare finance and strengthening the healthcare industry.”

Williams has over 40 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He is a former partner at Horne and is currently a partner at Carr, Riggs & Ingram, where he works closely with healthcare providers to navigate the evolving landscape of reimbursement, including federal and state programs, as well as other payer programs. His expertise has made him a trusted resource to providers seeking guidance in complex financial environments.

He has served HFMA at the national and chapter levels for decades in a wide range of leadership roles, from Mississippi chapter president and treasurer to regional executive and conference committee co-chair/president, among other positions.

Williams is a recipient of the Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver and Muncie Gold merit awards in recognition of his many contributions to HFMA. He also is a recipient of the Founder’s Medal of Honor.

“David Williams’ longstanding commitment to HFMA and the healthcare finance profession exemplifies the spirit of the Fredrick C. Morgan Achievement Award,” said HFMA President and CEO C. Ann Jordan, J.D. “Through his leadership, David has generously shared his expertise to support healthcare organizations navigating increasingly complex financial challenges. His dedication to HFMA, his mentorship of fellow professionals and his unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare finance have made a lasting impact on our association and the industry as a whole.”

Past National Chair of HFMA Steven Rose, CPA, FHFMA, and Corporate Vice President of Finance and Accounting at Baptist Health Steven Rose, described Williams as having a service mentality.

“His unpretentious and calming demeanor has made him a go-to person within HFMA – leader, committee chair/member, speaker, advocate, mentor, and even driver, when needed,” he wrote in a recommendation letter.

Kimberly Williams, past president of the Mississippi Chapter of HFMA, said in her nomination letter that Williams has made significant contributions at the chapter level.

“He has served with the Mississippi Chapter of HFMA in every possible capacity and continually exhibits the very best leadership qualities and exemplary character every day,” she said. “He has set the standard for many years in leadership and community involvement.”

Williams is also engaged in his community and alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and later his master’s degree in public health. His dedication to service extends beyond his professional work, reflecting a lifelong commitment to leadership and giving back.
