Two long-time HFMA members, David Williams and Dennis Dahlen, are recipients of the
Association’s highest honors for 2026.
David Williams honored for service to HFMA and healthcare finance
HFMA presented David Williams with the 2026 Frederick C. Morgan Individual Achievement Award on April 27 at its Leadership Summit in Austin, Texas.
“Receiving the 2026 Frederick C. Morgan Achievement Award is truly humbling,” Williams said. “HFMA has been an important part of my professional journey for many years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside colleagues who are committed to advancing healthcare finance.”
Williams has more than 40 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He is a former partner at Horne and is currently a partner at Carr, Riggs & Ingram based in Enterprise, Alabama, where he works closely with healthcare providers to navigate the evolving landscape of reimbursement.
He has served HFMA at the national and chapter levels for decades, including as Mississippi Chapter president and treasurer and as a regional executive and conference committee co-chair/president.
Williams also is a recipient of HFMA’s Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver and Muncie Gold merit awards and the Association’s Founders Medal of Honor.
“David Williams’ longstanding commitment to HFMA and the healthcare finance profession exemplifies the spirit of the Frederick C. Morgan Achievement Award,” said HFMA President and CEO C. Ann Jordan, JD. “His dedication to HFMA, his mentorship of fellow professionals and his unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare finance have made a lasting impact on our association and the industry as a whole.”
Dennis Dahlen honored for contributions to the profession
Dennis Dahlen, CFO of Mayo Clinic, accepted HFMA’s Richard L. Clarke Board of Directors Award on June 7 at HFMA’s Annual Conference.
When presenting Dahlen with the award, HFMA’s Jordan said that it “reflects HFMA’s deepest appreciation for transformative vision, meaningful action and service to the profession.”
As CFO of Mayo Clinic, Dahlen has helped lead innovative approaches to financial stewardship that support high-quality, patient-centered care while addressing the growing challenges of affordability, access and long-term sustainability across the healthcare system.
Before Mayo Clinic, Dahlen was CFO of Banner Health, a health system based in Phoenix.
“Although the organizations are quite different, both organizations were and are driven by that same stewardship ethos that healthcare finance is ultimately about enabling and advancing care and health,” Dahlen said. “So behind every budget, capital investment, reimbursement strategy and financial plan is a patient, a family and a community depending on us to get it right.”
Dahlen also is a past National Chair of HFMA. He reflected on how he has been inspired by the resilience and dedication of his fellow finance professionals throughout his four decades as a member.
“Never lose sight of why you chose this profession or your ability to influence the future,” he said.
