West Virginia Chapter

President’s Welcome

As I step into the role of the President of the West Virginia Healthcare Financial Management Association, I am filled with enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility towards our membership and the healthcare industry we serve.  Our organization has made tremendous progress despite the COVID-19 public health emergency and will do my best to continue building off our previous successes.

First and foremost, we will concentrate our efforts on fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among our members. Our Association thrives on the collective wisdom and expertise of our financial managers, coders, administrators, clinicians, and all others who participate in the provision of healthcare in the state of West Virginia.  It is through this collaboration that we can overcome challenges and seize opportunities. To facilitate this, we will organize educational seminars and interactive workshops where members can exchange insights, discuss best practices, and build strong professional relationships.

In line with the dynamic nature of the healthcare industry, we recognize the pressing need to stay updated with evolving financial regulations, policies, and technological advancements. To address this, our Association will actively promote continuing education opportunities and professional development initiatives. At a local and national level, we continue to offer a range of specialized training programs, webinars, and certification courses to equip our members with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. By investing in our members’ growth and development, we aim to elevate the standards of financial management in healthcare organizations across West Virginia.

Furthermore, recognizing the need for innovation and adaptation, we will prioritize exploring emerging trends and technologies in healthcare finance. The landscape is rapidly evolving, with advancements in data analytics, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence presenting both opportunities and challenges. We will facilitate discussions and knowledge sharing on these topics, encouraging our members to embrace innovation and leverage technology to optimize financial operations, enhance decision-making, and drive better patient outcomes.

Lastly, but equally important, we will emphasize fostering inclusivity and diversity within our Association. We believe that diverse perspectives and experiences contribute to better problem-solving and decision-making. We will actively encourage the participation and representation of professionals from various backgrounds and experiences, creating an inclusive environment where everyone’s voices are heard and valued.

I am excited about the year ahead and confident that, together, we can achieve remarkable progress in advancing healthcare financial management in West Virginia. Please feel free to reach out to me, or anyone in our leadership team if you have any questions, suggestions, or if there are specific areas you would like our Association to focus on during my presidency.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the West Virginia Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Warm regards,

Christopher L. Rawlings,
2023/2024 President West Virginia Healthcare Financial Management Association
