Hospital Negotiated Charge Posting Requirement Final Rule Summary

On November 15, 2019, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a final rule that establishes the requirements for hospitals operating in the United States to establish, update, and make public a list of their standard charges for the items and services they provide. The rule requires all hospitals to post gross charges, payer-specific negotiated charges, the de-identified minimum and maximum negotiated charge and the cash discount price for all items and services and service packages on a website in a machine-readable format.
