Success Awards presented at 2021 Annual Conference

February 1, 2022 12:54 am

Ten HFMA chapters and three regions have been named as the first-ever winners of HFMA’s Success Award.

Members of the South Texas Chapter celebrate receiving the 2020-21 HFMA Success Award for Best Membership Growth. Thanks to a variety of efforts, the Chapter increased its membership by 4%.

The new award was established by HFMA’s Regional Executive Council to recognize positive outcomes resulting from the Chapter Success Plan. The plan is designed to help chapters focus on improving and sustaining excellence in four key areas: individual membership growth, value, engagement and innovation. Each chapter is required to develop the plan on an annual basis.

Winners of the 2020-21 Chapter Success Award

The Success Awards were presented for the first time on Nov. 8 at a special reception held during the 2021 HFMA Annual Conference in Minneapolis. At least one winner was announced for outstanding results in each of the Chapter Success Plan’s key metric categories as well as an additional category recognizing passion for executing the plan.

The recipients of the 2020-21 HFMA Chapter Success Awards are:

  • Best Value: Lone Star Chapter and South Dakota Chapter
  • Best Engagement: Arizona Chapter, Oklahoma Chapter, Oregon Chapter and Region 11
  • Best Innovation: First Illinois Chapter, Puerto Rico Chapter, San Diego-Imperial Chapter and Region 7
  • Best Passion: Nebraska Chapter and Region 10
  • Best Membership Growth: South Texas Chapter

New location for 2022 chapter awards celebration

While the 2020-21 Chapter Success Awards were presented at the 2021 Annual Conference, moving forward, they — and all chapter awards — will be presented at the Leadership Training Conference (LTC). The LTC is an annual event where chapter leaders from across the country come together each spring for leadership training, planning and team building.

“We’re excited to announce the transition of the awards ceremony to the LTC,” said Tracy Packingham, HFMA’s director of member/volunteer experience. “We believe recognizing award winners at LTC will allow more of our chapter volunteers to be present for the celebration than typically are able to attend the Annual Conference. And this first year is going to be a big one as we’ll be celebrating awards from 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22.”

The 2022 chapter awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 24 — the first evening of the LTC — in Phoenix, Arizona.
