- Monitors charge capture and charge reconciliation outcomes.
- Reviews, develops, implements, evaluates, and revises charge guidelines to optimize revenue management; effectively implements recommendations and monitors results.
- Identifies charge compliance issues and root causes of noncompliance. Ensures correction of issues and develops changes to workflow processes to ensure that issues are prevented in the future.
- Ensures operations and functions are in compliance with regulatory requirements and policies and procedures of QHS.
- Prepares and presents financial reports for executive management review.

B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- No certification/license requirement.
C. EXPERIENCE:
- In addition to the education requirement, three (3) years of experience in revenue integrity, coding, charge capture or billing compliance, preferably in a comparable organization.
- Experience to demonstrate the following:
- Working knowledge of charge master principles and the relationship to coding, billing and compliance in a hospital setting.
- Knowledge of requirements specific to government-funded health care program and third-party payer reimbursement.
- Proficiency with computer-based hospital billing/records applications and Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word and Excel.
- Prior experience with Epic systems preferred.

Position Description:
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for auditing the charge capture process to ensure that all valid charges are captured in the billing process in a timely manner.
- Identifies charge compliance issues and root causes of noncompliance. Ensures correction of such issues and develops changes to workflow processes to ensure that such issues are prevented in the future.
- Monitors functions and activities to safeguard The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS) against exposure to penalties and fines by ensuring healthcare services are billed accurately and properly at all times.
- Provides education and training to departmental staff to ensure understanding and compliance to correct charging procedures.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Essential: Sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.

- Experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Experience to demonstrate the following:
- Working knowledge of CPT/HCPCS and revenue code assignment and ICD-9 coding.
- Working knowledge of charge master principles and the relationship to coding, billing and compliance in a hospital setting.
- Working knowledge of health care delivery systems, including contracting and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of reimbursement regulations, including Medicare/Medicaid program requirements, and medical terminology.

- Assists in development, maintenance and administration of the medical centers’ contracts with health insurers for services provided to members.
- Performs financial analysis, operational evaluation, and compliance issues on payer agreements to recommend action for executive review.
- Makes recommendations for optimal member utilization and objective financial criteria.
- Functions as a member of the contracting team to negotiate optimal contractual agreements.
- Responsible for maintenance of contract modules.
