Position Description:
Mammoth Hospital is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Associate Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) to join our leadership team during an important period of system growth and operational modernization. This role is ideal for a finance leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working closely with operations, and shaping the financial future of a dynamic rural health organization.
The ACFO role is intentionally structured as a two‑year development phase, providing broad exposure across all areas of Finance with the goal of preparing the successful candidate to step into the CFO position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with clinical and operational leaders to understand organizational needs and ensure finance is fully embedded in day‑to‑day decision making.
- Support the hospital’s transition to a new financial and purchasing system, including helping managers learn new workflows and processes.
- Provide leadership in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, and overall fiscal management.
- Contribute to organization‑wide initiatives focused on quality, safety, standardization, and reducing waste.
- Participate in leadership or organizational improvement efforts, and long‑term financial planning.
- Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities to ensure responsible growth and stability.
Required Qualifications:
- Active CPA
- Minimum 3+ years of audit experience, ideally with healthcare exposure
- Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in hospital or health‑system finance (e.g., Controller, Director of Finance)
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to lead in a hands‑on, detail‑oriented environment
- Willingness to relocate to Mono or Inyo County
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience supporting financial system transitions or organizational change management
