Joy Mason is pursuing her Master of Health Administration (MHA) at The Ohio State University in the College of Public Health. Before coming to OSU, Joy received her B.S. in Healthcare Business Management from Case Western Reserve University. While studying at CWRU, Joy completed two administrative internships at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic. Joy’s passion for healthcare stems back to her childhood but has been fostered by volunteering for numerous health systems, engaging in experiential coursework at CWRU and OSU, and her involvement in HFMA. After completing her Graduate Administrative Residency at the Cleveland Clinic in their Enterprise Primary Care Institute, Joy will return to her role as a Graduate Administrative Associate at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Joy also serves as the Vice President of the Association of Future Healthcare Executives and the Chair of OSU’s 2024 First Year MHA Case Competition.

As Chair of COFHMA’s Student Leadership Committee, Joy is looking forward to working with Chapter leadership to promote student involvement in HFMA through fun and engaging networking, programming, and membership opportunities. Joy is grateful to be collaborating with an incredible board of SLC Chairs and cannot wait to see all they can accomplish together this year.

Hannah Nawrocki is pursuing her Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree at The Ohio State University in the College of Public Health. Hannah is a double Buckeye, as she also received her B.S. in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences from The Ohio State University in 2023. In her undergraduate career, she majored in Health Information Management and Systems, which aided in developing her passion and love for healthcare administration. While studying at the Ohio State University, Hannah has gained valuable experience in the healthcare field as a Student Intern in the Data Resource Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, as a Student Assistant in Patient Experience at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, as well as a Master Patient Index Intern at OCHIN, Inc. During the school year, Hannah will continue working at Nationwide Children’s Center in the Data Resource Center as well as being a Student Manager at one of OSU’s on-campus dining locations. Outside of school and HFMA, Hannah reading, doing puzzles, and trying new restaurants around Columbus.

As the Student Leadership Programming Chair, Hannah is looking forward to organizing exciting and engaging events for HFMA’s student members, as well as working to promote all of the wonderful benefits that HFMA has to offer students interested in healthcare finance. She is extremely lucky and grateful to work alongside so many amazing individuals and is excited for what this year will bring!


BREVEN PERRY

Breven Perry is pursuing his Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree at The Ohio State University in the College of Public Health. Before coming to OSU, Breven received his Bachelor of Science in Health Science from the University of Dayton. During his time at the University of Dayton, Breven worked clinically at an outpatient physical therapy clinic, volunteered at a children’s hospital, and was a Berry Summer Research Fellow, taking part in two novel research projects. He took an interest in healthcare administration and the healthcare field at large from his experiences in undergraduate and an internship with an assisted living facility in Virginia under the Executive Director of two locations. Breven works at OSU’s Student Health Center as a Revenue Cycle Management Associate during the school year and will be completing his summer internship at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in the Neurological Institute. Aside from his role as communications chair of the COHFMA SLC, he is a student member of ACHE and AFHE and OSU’s Cru graduate students’ chapter. He enjoys reading, writing and all outdoor activities.

As Communications Chair of the COHFMA SLC, Breven is looking forward to increasing visibility and reach of COHFMA and bringing awareness of all the benefits that come with membership to more students across central Ohio as well as providing educational material on healthcare finance topics. He is very excited to be working with such a great group of students and growing his network with others in COHFMA.


AKARSH GADEY

Akarsh Gadey is a driven individual currently pursuing his Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) at The Ohio State University. He graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a B.S in Healthcare Management, aiming to explore the various aspects of our complex healthcare system.

During his academic journey, Akarsh gained valuable experience through four internships. He interned at CVS Aetna in Medicaid Care Management, developing an understanding of the payer space. He worked as a medical billing specialist at Business Advisors MD, honing his skills in revenue cycle management. Akarsh also served as a community advocate at Baylor Scott & White, demonstrating his dedication to making a positive impact within the healthcare community. Furthermore, he interned at Children’s Health in the innovation lab, focusing on the application of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies for patients and physicians.

After his time at Deloitte as a Summer Associate in Healthcare, Akarsh will be returning to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as a Graduate Administrative Associate.

Akarsh is actively involved in professional organizations, holding the position of Professional Development Chair for the Association of Future Healthcare Executives and the Outreach Chair for the Fisher Consulting and Strategy Club. As the Networking Chair of COHFMA, Akarsh hopes to foster connections and facilitate networking opportunities within and outside the organization.


ANDREW MCGIRTY

Case Western Reserve School of Law

Andrew is entering his second year of law school at Case Western Reserve School of Law following graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s in Health Information Management and Systems. During his time at Ohio State, he gained a variety of experiences working for the Ohio Governor’s Office, as an immigration law paralegal, and within in-house counsel at an insurance company. Coupling these involvements with his educational interests, Andrew looks to pursue a career specializing in healthcare finance law at a hospital system or law firm in Ohio. HFMA has heightened his desire to grow professionally and academically within the Ohio healthcare community. Recently, Andrew has taken up backpacking, and looks to hike at all sixty-three United States national parks before the age of forty.

As Membership Chair of the COHFMA SLC, Andrew is excited to have to opportunity to utilize his experience and inclination for recruitment to develop new university connections and grow the student chapter.
